2012 HIGH TECH FAIR STUDENT/PARENT NIGHT PROMOTIONAL VIDEO COMPETITION

The San Diego Science Alliance (SDSA) is conducting a Video Competition for Middle and High School Media Classes to promote the 2012 High Tech Fair – Student/Parent Night. All San Diego County middle and high school media classes are welcome to enter. The 2012 High Tech Fair – Student/Parent Night showcases fascinating demonstrations in the fields of science, technology, and engineering.  Details about the event are on the SDSA website: http://sdsa.org/programs/high-tech-fair.

HOW TO ENTER:

1.       Create a video that encourages students from your school and their families to visit the 2012 High Tech Fair – Student/Parent Night that will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Del Mar Fairgrounds – Wyland Hall. Be as creative as you can!

2.       Upload your video to http://vimeo.com. Or, you can mail your video on DVD to “SDSA Video Contest,” 5694 Mission Center Road, #285,

PRIZES

Winners will be selected in each of two categories:

1.       Highest Quality Video

2.       Most Effective Video

The winning class in each category will receive a Production Studio Tour of a local network TV station or cable TV system provider (includes bus transportation). Additional consolation prizes will be awarded. Consolation prizes include a pizza party with a local Media Celebrity/On Air Talent at your school.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR WINNING VIDEOS

The Science Alliance Video Competition Review Panel is comprised of local scientists, engineers and communications experts; this group will select the winning videos. The winning video in the Highest Quality Video category will be determined based on creativity, production quality, and professionalism. Science Alliance staff will count the number of students from each registered school that attend Student/Parent Night and use that information to determine the winner in the Most Effective Video category. We hope your video goes viral among your school community!

We expect your video will be shown to students at your school approximately one week prior to the event as part of your school news. The winning media classes and schools will be announced at Student/Parent Night at 7:30 p.m.
