STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
Resources and activities that support integrating STEM education into San Diego region schools.
SDSA collaborates with numerous school districts and community partners to advance the integration of STEM content into K-12 education.
STEM Professionals with Class
This SDSA program brings professionals in industry to the classroom to inspire teachers and students to learn science, math, and communications skills. SDSA helps orient volunteer professionals from various businesses, research groups, or other organizations so that they can be most effective when engaging students at various grade levels and in various subject areas.
Two key initiatives include the STEM SPAWAR 8th Grade Project that focuses on physical science topics and the Science Education Speakers Bureau formed by the Biocom Institute.
STEM SPAWAR 8th Grade Project
This SDSA program enables teachers to visit SPAWAR facilities to experience a day in the lab with working scientists, helping them connect real-world applications with the subjects their student learn in the classroom. SPAWAR professionals visit classrooms helping students appreciate the career pathways that they can follow and the excitement of using science, math and language skills on real-life problems.
