STEM Partner Roles
STEM Professionals with Class have the ability to guide students toward academic and personal excellence that will reach far beyond their school years. Sharing the STEM Expertise in the context of what students are learning connects a real person to the STEM topic or innovation and provides a real example of the science students are learning. There are also opportunities to work with teachers in professional development.
As a STEM Professional, you are making a commitment to:
- Participate in a brief certification process to prepare for the classroom experiences, this includes a background check.
- Support classroom projects that underscore the principle of collaborative learning and the practice of students teaching other students through discussion and exploration.
- Prepare a brief presentation and demonstration to share aspects of your work in a STEM profession that is accessible to the age group of students.
- Encourage students to shoulder the responsibility for their own active learning while guiding them with questions.
- Become familiar with the school site, age group and teacher you will collaborate with
- Take responsibility for the tone and atmosphere of the classroom.
- Communicate with the Program Coordinator to share outcomes and suggestions
- Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for all students to follow.
