SEACAMP San Diego is launching its new outreach program, SEA LAB! While its name remains the same, our newly designed Sea Lab program allows us to better align our curriculum with the national and state science standards. We worked to develop a program that continues to deliver the high caliber of marine education that teachers, students, and communities expect when working with us.
To provide the same experiential learning experience with a more standards-based science curriculum, we divided our outreach program into a three-part series: introductory lesson, field activity, and closing activities.
As a way to welcome returning schools and to introduce ourselves to new schools, we are hosting a SEACAMP Open House on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 from 5:30-7:30. Catered food will be provided, and this event is FREE! During this event, we will be offering an introduction to the Sea Lab experience, a tour of our facility including a visit to our 1500-gallon shark tank, invertebrate aquarium, touch tank, and fish lab, and an overview of sample lessons that teachers can do in their own classroom to support the students’ learning at SEACAMP.
