“Perspectives on Science” has been recognized for excellence by both the San Diego Science Educators Association (“University Service to the San Diego K-12 Educational Community”, June, 2003) and by the San Diego Science Alliance (“Sustainable Program Partnership Award”, June, 2008). To date, it has featured presentations by 85 scientists from 19 Southern California academic institutions and biotech companies, including six HHMI Investigators and 21 members of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, three of whom (Francis Crick, Sydney Brenner and Roger Tsien) are also Nobel Laureates. Some 354 science teachers representing 130 elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and community colleges from throughout San Diego County have participated in POS. CLICK HERE for list.
Although the “per capita” cost of the POS program is ~$180, teachers may subscribe to this year’s program for $75, thanks to support provided by the Point Loma Nazarene University Administration.
The registration deadline is October 5th, or when the limit of 100 subscribers is reached (whichever comes first). Those needing more information may contact Dr. Michael McConnell at 619 849 2304 or at mmcconne@pointloma.edu .
