Applications Now Being Accepted for iARoC 2010
Wintriss Technical Schools sponsors an autonomous robot competition each year during the Fair at the San Diego County Fairgrounds. This year, iARoC 2010 will be held the weekend of June 26th and 27th, and applications are now being accepted.
The two-day competition features an Urban Challenge (a maze) and a Gold Rush Challenge (a free-for-all). Any type of robot is welcome to enter, as long as it is entirely autonomous. Roombas and Lego Mindstorms entries are common.
A week-long robo camp will again be offered at the Sun Microsystems Campus the week prior to the competition with Java experts available to help students with their robots.
The competition is open to anyone, $1,750 in cash prizes will be awarded to the best grade school and high school teams.
iARoC rules emphasize programming expertise, and the judges critically examine student robot programs for originality and cleverness.
