It is easy to apply.

letter/essay and get a science teacher recommendation. All the details
are on the BE WiSE Web page. Applications must be received no later than Feb. 1, 2010
The theme for the overnights is Inspired by Nature
The locations and dates are:
April 23, 2010 at
Hubbs SeaWorld Research Institute
April 30, 2010
at Birch Aquarium/Scripps Institution of Oceanography
May 7, 2010 at
San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research
As it states in the printed materials on the web site, the girls apply to
attend an overnight, but cannot select which one. We make that decision
and will notify the students who are accepted, to which overnight they will
attend.
You will see a small version of the Overnight Poster on the web site. You
can print that and hang it in your classroom/science lab for the girls to
see. In addition you will find:
- Application form
- Information about the letter/essay they must submit with the application form
- Fact Sheet for Parents and Teachers (we suggest you give the students a copy of that with the application form and information sheet to take to their parents.
The Overnights start at 6PM and end Saturday morning approximately
9AM. The girls will have the opportunity to learn and "do"
hands on science and meet scientists and researchers. They bring their
own sleeping bags for the overnight. We provide dinner and
breakfast. There is no charge for the program. We will also provide
free school bus transportation from a central place in San Diego for the
overnight on May 7 which is adjacent to the Wild Animal Park.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or need more
information. This will be an exciting opportunity for the girls who are
selected. We hope you will encourage some of your students to apply.
