The 2010 High Tech Fair is just 6 weeks away! 

The High Tech Fair, an event for 7th – 12th grade students, features hands-on exhibits demonstrating current and emerging technologies from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) industry leaders.

2010 High Tech Fair

Wyland Hall, Del Mar Fairgrounds

Student / Parent Night:  March 9, 2010  5:30pm - 7:30pm  (open to the public)

Traditional School Day Event:   March 10, 2010   8:30am – 2:00pm (teachers bring students)  

 

High Tech Fair participants from industry, government and academia are visionaries who believe that action is required in order for America to lead the way in science, technology, engineering and math, and develop solutions to critical, global problems. To ensure that America is ready to harvest our home-grown talent, the seeds need to be planted now. Please join SDSA in sowing the seeds of greatness. Sign-up for the 2010 High Tech Fair and make a difference in America’s future!

 

Registration is required.

Teachers–  Register to bring your class of students on March 10th

Industry– Register to participate as an exhibitor on March 9th- 10th

Parents– Register to bring your 7th – 12th grade child on March 9th

 

The following is a list of industry/learning strands and the registered exhibitors to date: 

BioTech / BioMedical: The science of using living things, and components of living things, to produce goods and services.  It involves manipulating and modifying organisms, often at the molecular level, to create new and practical applications for agriculture, medicine and industry.

Clean Technology / Energy:  The science of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies plus other technologies that make use of resources more environmentally benign and/or reduce carbon emissions.

Conservation / Environmental Science / Agriculture Technology:  Focus on current and future conservation of our natural resources; the science and technology of sustaining our wildlife, forests, coastlines and oceans; and technological advances in farming that help better serve the needs of the public while protecting the environment and increasing output.

Engineering / Aerospace / Transportation:  Focus on the application of science to practical uses such as the design of structures, machines, and systems.

Healthcare Technology:  Focus of the systems within which health is protected and maintained, including prevention and rehabilitation, emergency medicine, medical devices, and technology for monitoring the health of a patient remotely.  Dental technology is also included in this strand.

High Tech / Computer Technology / Telecommunications:  Focus on highly specialized complex technology, including computer applications and telecommunications.

Innovation Alley:  Comprised of CONNECT MIP (Most Innovative Products) finalists and winners.  CONNECT’s MIP Awards have served as a benchmark for predicting San Diego’s most successful emerging technologies.

Robotics:  Focus on the technology associated with the design, fabrication, theory, and application of robots.
