Reuben H. Fleet Science Center Upcoming Events
What: Exploring Ethics Lecture: “Deep Brain Stimulation” In conjunction with the Center for Ethics in Science and Technology, the Fleet welcomes guests to encounter science from an ethical perspective. Many scientists are interested in the possibility that electrical stimulation of appropriate sites in the brain could repair disorders of mood or movement. The hope is to find therapies that will help with everything from Parkinson’s Disease to pain or depression. In the brain, the goal might be to increase activity of a particular region or to disrupt activity in another region. How should this technology be used?
