Contribute your expertise to the next generation of Science Standards
The National Research Council's (NRC) Board on Science Education (BOSE) is developing a conceptual framework to guide the development of new science education standards. The framework effort is led by a committee of experts who will develop a draft conceptual framework, gather feedback from a range of stakeholders, revise the framework in light of the feedback, and release a final framework to the public.
There is a general consensus in the science education community that the time is right to take a new look at science education standards. For example, there is general agreement that most current standards lead to curricula and textbooks that contain too many topics covered in too little depth. The new conceptual framework aims to address that issue.
You are invited to read the draft and post your comments by August 2, 2010.
