Teach BioScience! New Conference in Washington, DC, on Bioscience Education
The Biotechnology Institute is now accepting registration for Teach BioScience!, a premier training program for teachers who want to bring state of-the-art bioscience education to their classrooms. The new conference, which will be held October 15-20 in Washington, DC, in conjunction with AdvaMed, the leading conference for medical device professionals, allows educators to custom design a professional development experience that meets their needs!

What: The Biotechnology Institute's Teach BioScience! conference offers up to six days of professional development and up to 34 contact hours. The program helps educators become leaders for bioscience education in their schools and in their communities.
There are many unique aspects of this program that are not available in other teacher professional programs, including:

Leadership development - the program positions educators to become leaders, trainers and fundraisers in their schools, districts and states

AdvaMed 2010 - make connections with industry and attend fabulous sessions at AdvaMed 2010, the premier MedTech conference for business executives, policy-makers, financiers, media, and industry stakeholders from around the world

Hands-on wet-labs - two full days of lab work so you can discover how to integrate bioscience labs into your teaching. These labs use low-cost everyday supplies and equipment and are linked to education and skills standards. Choose from three wet-lab strands: Fundamentals of Bioscience, Agricultural and Environmental Bioscience and Healthcare Bioscience

Bioscience curriculum, supplies and equipment - meet in an informal setting with leading suppliers of curriculum, supplies and equipment for your classrooms and institution.
Who is eligible: Educators at middle schools, high schools, two-year colleges and universities who are teaching or planning to teach bioscience content to science and career and technical education students at pre-college and associate degree levels.
When: Friday, October 15 through Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Stay for all or part of the conference based upon your needs.
Where: Washington, DC, McKinley Technology High School and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Reduced rate housing is available.
Price: Program prices begin at $65, depending on the sessions you select and when you register. Many participants are sponsored by their school districts or organizations and corporations in their communities. The Biotechnology Institute offers sponsorship guidance. Teams of educators from states or school districts are encouraged to attend together, and discounts are available for groups of three or more educators. The Biotechnology Institute grants certificates of participation that document the number of contact hours of instruction you receive. Attendees receive a complimentary one year individual membership in the Biotechnology Institute.
