MORE
All participants will use a standardized solar cell and motor. With the exception of a few specification regulations, unlimited ingenuity and inventiveness can be used in car construction. Awards will be given for design in addition to the track event itself. Junior Solar Sprint is a national hands-on program - see http://www.nrel.gov/education/jss_hfc.html. It aims to generate enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and math at a crucial stage in the development of young people. This opportunity to design, build, and race their own solar powered model cars helps students better understand scientific concepts and renewable energy technologies and encourages them to consider technical careers at an early age.
