LSSI High School Application DEADLINE: MARCH 29TH
Hello Everyone,
The San Diego Workforce Partnership in collaboration with BIOCOM, the Southern California Biotechnology Center (SCBC), and San Diego's world-renowned research institutes would like to announce the release of the 2010 Life Sciences Summer Institute (LSSI) Application Packet for the High School Student Research Program. The LSSI High School Student Research Program provides upper level high school students with the opportunity to gain exposure to career options within the life sciences industries through hands-on laboratory experience, work readiness training, and mentoring by a research scientist.
The eight week program, provides students with one week of laboratory and work readiness training, held at SCBC Miramar College and concurrently at Grossmont College, followed by a 7-week paid internship at one of San Diego's life science research institutes, including: Burnham Institute for Medical Research, La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology, Salk Institute for Biological Studies, San Diego Supercomputer Center or The Scripps Research Institute. Additionally, some students may be selected to intern at a company within the local life sciences industry.
