Elementary School, Middle School , High School and Community College educators are invited to attend our March TeacherTECH Technology Tools Series focused on teaching the global effects of climate change aligned to state standards.
Tuesday, March 23, 2010
4:30pm - 6:30pm
San Diego Supercomputer Center, Auditorium
University of California, San Diego
Workshop Description
Climate change seem infinitely complex? Learn the basics and teach confidently. Community college instructor and educational media producer Memorie Yasuda introduces core topics related to California Science standards for grades 9-12 - global energy budget and biogeochemical cycles; and grades 5-8 - atmosphere, water cycle, weather, climate, heat, Earth's orbit, and electromagnetic radiation.
Join us to analyze web-based resources that can be used in the classroom. Learn what it means to be a "greenhouse" gas. Find out about the energy that warms the Earth’s surface. Explore the links between people, fossils and climate change and find out why it’s a problem. Learn about proposed solutions, how they relate to you, and about the opportunities and decisions your students will encounter. Workshop will be hands-on and discussion-based with ample time for questions and answer.
Please join us for an exciting and informative session of hands-on learning presented by Memorie Yasuda, University of California, San Diego.
