National Lab Day (NLD)
The Motorola Foundation is a sponsor of National Lab Day (NLD), a nationwide movement to support active, engaging teaching and learning. It is about encouraging and inspiring children and building long-term relationships between STEM professionals and our K-12 classrooms.
The NLD web site provides a clearinghouse for teachers to express what they need to succeed in the form of "projects"; be that the help of a scientist mentor or in-kind contributions help with lesson plans or internships with scientists for their students.
There are three main ways to get involved:
Teachers - From the link enter requests for projects. Those requests will be displayed on the entire list of NLD projects and will also be highlighted as a Motorola Foundation sponsored project.
Scientists - Innovation Generation grantees and Motorola employees who have a science background can sign-up to volunteer for projects and be connected directly to Motorola Foundation sponsored projects.
Volunteers - Anyone without a science background can sign-up to help bring resources and other volunteer skills to Motorola sponsored projects.
It is easy, all you need to do is follow the link, click on the category that you are associated with and fill-out a registration form. CLICK HERE for more information.
NLD officially commences on May 12, 2010.If you have any questions please contact Carlye Greene at hfd638@motorola.com.
