Science Teacher Workshop - Nuclear Science/Geiger Counters/Radiation
The American Nuclear Society will present a full-day teacher workshop -- DETECTING RADIATION IN OUR RADIOACTIVE WORLD -- in San Diego, Saturday, June 12, 2010.
The workshop is intended for middle school and high school science educators, regardless of their subject specialty. Teachers will hear presentations on the basics of radiation, how nuclear power plants work, and other applications of nuclear science and technology. They will have experience with hands-on activities for the classroom and take home printed materials and references. Those who complete the workshop will also receive a Civil Defense surplus radiation monitor (Geiger Counter) for classroom demonstrations. Registration is $75 and includes continental breakfast and lunch.
