StudentTECH: Expert Website Creation Using HTML and CSS – A 3-Part Saturday Series Starting May 8, 2010, 9:00am - 11:30am

The San Diego Supercomputer Center at UCSD presents an exciting introductory web development workshop for high school students in their freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year.

Workshop Description

Ever wanted to learn how to make a professional website? The Computer Science and Engineering Society at UC San Diego presents, Build Your Own Website, a Workshop series focused on introductory website development. We will cover the basics of coding with HTML and CSS. No prior experience is necessary. By the end of the workshop, students will have the skills necessary to create a website that possesses the artistic details and complex layouts used by professionals. For those who are interested in learning more, this workshop will also provide an introduction to the world of computer science.

Topics to be covered:

  • Getting started and HTML basics
  • CSS basics
  • Multiple pages and tables
  • Divs and CSS Layout
  • Common motifs
  • Web services

Class time will include step-by-step tutorials, project exercises and project work time to allow practice and assess understanding.
