Educators teaching grades 4 - 9 are invited to attend a special TeacherTECH Science Series offered in collaboration with the San Diego Air and Space Museum. This exciting workshop is focused on astronomy and space science online resources to engage your students while teaching the standards.

Saturday, November 20, 2010

9:30am - 11:30am

San Diego Supercomputer Center, Training Room

University of California, San Diego

Upcoming workshops will take pace at various locations, including the San Diego Air and Space Museum and General Atomics. Workshops will be offered in collaboration with the San Diego Space Society, the San Diego Astronomy Association, and General Atomics.

Workshop Description

This computer-based workshop will explore the extensive educational resources available from a host of organizations specializing in space science.  If you are interested in materials for teaching space science to your students, but are limited on spare time to collect this information, this workshop is for you!  In our navigation of these online resources, we will highlight sites offering images, animations, videos, data, hands-on experiments and education activities.  In addition to discovering new materials for your class, we will discover sources for information regarding current space science research, so that you can track up-to-date studies of the universe.  All participants will leave with a collection of materials compiled from the organizations surveyed in this workshop.

All participants will receive a workshop certificate endorsed by the San Diego County Office of Education for professional development credit.

Please join us for an exciting and informative session of hands-on learning presented by Elizabeth Ferguson, Bio-wave LLC.

Registration is free. Space is limited. Please contact Ange Mason at 858-534-5064 or amason@ucsd.edu to reserve your space.

Please feel free to forward this announcement on to others who may be interested.
