2010 Robert Bateman Get to Know Contest

2010 is International Year of Biodiversity, a global celebration of the remarkable diversity of plant and animal life on earth. The Get to Know Program encourages young people ages 18 and under to enter the Get to Know Contest and celebrate biodiversity in their own 'backyard'.

The Get to Know Contest invites youth to go outdoors – or to a local zoo or aquarium – and to use these experiences with nature to inspire creative art, writing, and photography. This year marks the launch of a new "This is My Forest" Video Category, in celebration of 2011 International Year of Forests and in partnership with the United Nations, the U.S. Forest Service, and Parks Canada. Winners receive wild prizes, including the opportunity to attend a weeklong Get to Know Art & Nature Camp at a National Park in Canada. The

Contest launches October 1 and runs until November 30.
