High School Student Cyber Competition Opportunity - Supporting STEM Education
This is the second year of the San Diego Mayor's Cyber Cup Challenge. This is a Cyber Defense Competition sponsored by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), and co-hosted by the University of California San Diego (UCSD). The competition is open to ALL California High School students and is conducted via the internet for Practice and Qualification Rounds.
Eight teams are selected as Finalists and those eight teams will need to travel to San Diego for a face-to-face competition held on Saturday, February 26, 2011. The Mayor's trophy is presented to the winning school with their school name and year engraved. The trophy is displayed at San Diego City Hall. The winning team also receives a version of the trophy signaling their excellence in demonstrating cyber security skills.
Scholarship funds will be provided to the top three teams, AND as a special bonus, the winning students receive a week long scholarship to work at ESET and gain hands on training building secure servers, etc.

TechSETS and TechConnect-IT work closely with the Security our eCity initiatives supporting cyber security and STEM education. Participating students will have access to the TechConnect: Cyber Cup community platform to facilitate collaboration, information-sharing, and planning among the participating teams. Please share this information with students and teachers in your schools! It's a great opportunity for earning scholarship funds, and an opportunity for students to experience an internship.
