Any and all of these workshops can be provided at your school or district upon request and are also offered during after school hours at SDCOE.  Here is a quick overview of the opportunities

  • STEM 101:  What is it about this new buzz around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)?  Come explore how these subjects can be integrated to develop teaching and learning for the 21st Century challenges.  Grade and content specific sessions (elementary, middle and high school) are offered featuring science and technology connections to inspire inquiry and innovation.  Each session features an expert in the field from our local, talented and real-time STEM professionals!
  • English Learners in Science Class: A useful tool to analyze your science curriculum to identify or import strategies to support EL students acquisition of language and science content
  • Strategic Science Teaching:  Connect literature with science learning experiences.  Get standards-aligned literature selection for your grade level and gain strategies to develop content literacy and science investigations.  Grade span and grade specific workshops are available
  • Environmental Education:  NOAA Ocean Explorers (K-12), Natural Connections (3-5), Energy and You (K-12) and other opportunities are available to help you implement environmental principles and concepts in your classroom.
  • Family Science:  Bring a team and learn how to host a multigenerational, SCIENCE themed event at your site.  Participants receive the Family Science planning book (English or Spanish) and access to kits to help you produce a Family Science program
  • Elementary Science Field Day:  The most fun you can have with students in grades 4-6 is participating in San Diego County's Elementary Science Field Day.  Sign up now for the event that takes place in May, 2011
