UCSD StudentTECH Workshop Series
Fall Fest Digital Costume Illustration Contest
Saturday, October 9, 2010 – 8:30am - 3:00pm
Course Overview:
Do you have a great idea for the best Halloween costume ever? Are you having trouble making your idea a reality? Are you interested in photography and photographic illustration? Have you ever thought about becoming a costume designer or makeup artist?
Then this workshop is right up your alley! Bring your best costume idea to life in this unique and festive once a year workshop where you will explore the skills and techniques used to create a digital costume illustration. Not only will students be creating their own unique costume illustration but they will be shooting their own digital photography and acting as models for their own costumes. Using digital photo illustration and image manipulation techniques, students will learn how to combine different photographic elements to create a cohesive exciting costume illustration.
The skills and techniques to be covered are commonly used by professionals in the fashion and entertainment industries to determine the look and feel of our most beloved story characters and fashionable clothing styles.
But what really makes this workshop fun and special is the "Costume Illustration Contest!" -- a digital art masquerade in the tradition of Harvest Festival and Halloween costume contests in which students will be asked to create their own "best ever dream costume" illustration to enter in a peer reviewed costume contest complete with prizes!
Let your imaginations run wild and see where your creativity can take you with the help of advanced digital photography, digital manipulation programs and digital costume illustration techniques as well as knowledgeable, patient instruction.
This is a once a year opportunity with exciting potential to experiment, learn and master knew skills, create something fun and have a great time doing it!
If you want to design the "best ever costume" for this year's harvest festival or Halloween party, if you want to learn how to "zombie-fi" photos of yourself and your friends, or recreate the look of your favorite comic book or manga character than this workshop is definitely for you!
