Dr.
Gross will demonstrate manufacturing techniques, discuss some aspects
of crafting shafts, and demonstrate atl-atl throwing. Dr. Gross will
share his comparative collection of replicated tools in the Center's
vast collections. Dr. Gross teaches archaeology courses at the University of San Diego and San Diego State University. He is co-author of Seeking our Past, An Introduction to North American Archaeology.
Knapping
rock is in short supply, so please bring some rocks to use and share.
Protective eyewear and gloves will be provided for those who don't have
their own knapping gear. Appropriate clothing and footwear are required
- no shorts or sandals. Bring a sack lunch. Snacks, water, and soft drinks will be provided.
Reservations are required. Payment must be received by May 15, 2011.
Registration Fees: Members of SDAC or KIIC: $50 for both classes, or $30 for one class. Nonmembers: $80 for both classes, or $45 for one class.
