Lecture with George Watters, Ph.D., Director of NOAA’s U.S. Antarctic Marine Living Resources Program.

Antarctica is one of the harshest environments on Earth, and the animals that have adapted to life there are truly unique. Explore the fishing in Antarctica and learn how marine resources are managed there today. Discover how a small group of San Diego-based scientists plays a big role in conserving the Antarctic ecosystem and how their work influences you.

Among Giants

Lecture and booksigning with Flip Nicklin, National Geographic photographer Nicklin’s lecture will feature the stories and breathtaking photography featured in his book Among Giants, A Life with Whales, which tells the tale of Nicklin's life and career on the high seas, from his first ill-equipped shoots in the mid-1970s through his long association with the National Geographic Society to the present.
