NOAA Family Science workshop
Announcing a unique opportunity to learn about Family Science, and to
be the first to see the newly created Family Science kits that focus on
earth's "final frontier"--the deep sea. We are offering a combined
session that will feature family science activities from The Foundation
for Family Science" and NOAA Ocean Explorer-based activities on topics
such as bioluminescence, density, and deep sea diversity and
adaptations.
This workshop will equip you with the tools you
need to host a Family Science Event at your school site, and by
attending the workshop you are entitled to check out a FULLY STOCKED
FAMILY SCIENCE KIT for your event. Choose from the following kits and
grade levels:
- Family Science Grades K-3
- Family Science Grades 4-6
- Family Science Grades 6-8
- NOAA Family Science Grades 4-6
- NOAA Family Science Grades 6-8
Each
kit contains 8 or more short activities for students and families to do
together. Then you can personalize the event to showcase the science
students are learning at school.
Location: San Diego County Office of Education, 6401 Linda Vista Rd, Room 301
Date/Time: January 20th, 2011 4:30-7:00pm

"Kids love to share what they are learning in science with their parents, and they love making new discoveries
with their families. Hosting a family science night is a great way to
encourage kids and their families to do hands-on science
together."--from a write-up on the value of Family Science Events in
this month's CSTA Newsletter. Check out http://www.classroomscience.org/family-science-nights
