Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals
The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, together with the Federal Aviation Administration and industry partners, are working together to provide a week-long aviation career awareness experience in Southern California for 30 high school students (Juniors and Seniors).
Objective: To provide students with an understanding of the wide variety of aviation careers and entry level job qualifications.
June 20.
ATC Day – Learn about the air traffic control system in the Federal Aviation Administration by touring Southern California TRACON and Lindbergh Air Traffic Control Tower.
June 21.
Military Day – Learn about aviation careers in the Military by touring Miramar MCAS and North Island Naval Complex.
June 22.
Aviation Career and Helicopter Day – Start the morning, talking to aviation professionals and learn about how they got into their career field. In the afternoon, meet helicopter pilots and see the aircraft that they fly for various entities in Southern California.
June 23.
Flight Day – Take an introductory flight with Experimental Aviation Aircraft(EAA). Talk to pilots ranging from an aerobatics to a professional airline pilot and learn about the fundamentals of flight.
June 24.
Rocket Launch Day – Students will be put into teams that will learn how to build and launch their own rockets.
