Sea World Sea Turtle Essay Contest – For 3rd and 4th grade students

Welcome! SeaWorld San Diego invites your 3rd and 4th grade class to participate in an essay contest developed to bring awareness to the need to preserve the species and limit the environmental dangers Sea Turtles face today. The winning classroom will receive a V.I.P Student Experience at SeaWorld San Diego and other prizes.

Education of Sea Turtles:
Sea turtles have survived in the seas for more than 200 million years. Unfortunately, all seven sea turtle species face many threats both in the ocean and on land. Green, leatherback, hawksbill, Kemp’s ridley, and olive ridley sea turtles are endangered under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. Loggerheads are threatened. Flatbacks are not currently listed. We encourage you and your class to conduct research to formulate your essay.

SeaWorld is a global leader in the rescue and rehabilitation of sea turtles. Since 1980, more than 1,300 turtles have been rescued.
