I am writing to invite you to participate in the BIOCOM Institute’s, Science Education Speaker’s Day on Oct 7th. Hosted right in your classroom!

What is it?

BIOCOM Institute and Vertex Pharmaceuticals are offering a FREE Science Education Speaker's Day and it could be at YOUR middle school. Over a dozen scientists from Vertex Pharmaceuticals will visit one lucky middle school all day October 7th to instill their passion for science in students, and to talk about their career paths. These volunteers will also teach hands on lessons based on the current science standards the students are learning.

The Science Education Speakers Day is an interactive science speaking engagement that matches industry professionals with middle school classrooms. The goal of the program is to give students the opportunity to spend time with an industry representative in a relaxed but structured manner that broadens their perception of science career pathways.

Volunteer scientists are available to work side by side with science teachers to teach lessons on any of the following subjects: DNA & the Nucleus, Cell Membrane, Mitosis vs. Meiosis, Genetic Diseases, Dominant/Recessive/Incomplete Dominance/Co-dominance, Genotype/Phenotype, EM Spectra/Waves and their Frequencies, DNA of Different Species/Cladograms, Adaptation, Mitochondrial DNA, Levers in the Body, Heart Valves, Blood Flows in One Direction, Fossil Evidence, Plant Respiration.
