The Math for America San Diego 2012 NSF Noyce Master Teaching Fellowship is a professional and leadership development program for experienced middle and high school mathematics teachers. The five-year program focuses on critical review of existing teaching approaches and curricula, examination of the 2014 California Common Core Standards for mathematics, and teacher leadership enhancement. Attention Middle and High School Math Teachers: Are you committed to becoming a better mathematics teacher? Are you interested in honing your leadership skills? Would you like to influence your colleagues and the public on matters related to mathematics teaching and learning? Apply now for the Math for America San Diego 2012 NSF Noyce Master Teaching Fellowship.
As an MfA SD Master Teaching Fellow, you will be a member of an intensive professional development and leadership program that includes annual three-week summer institutes and seminars during the academic year (approximately 200 hours per year). The five-year program focuses on critical examination of existing teaching approaches and curricula, examination of the 2014 California Common Core Content Standards for mathematics, and enhancement of teacher leadership skills. Participants receive $50,000 in stipends over the five-year program.
Eligible applicants are current math teachers in San Diego County middle and high schools with at least eight years of teaching experience, however, applicants with six or seven years are considered. Applicants must have a master’s degree (in math, education, or related field), a strong mathematics background, teach in a high-need school or school district and possess exemplary teaching and interpersonal skills.
The MfA SD Noyce Master Teaching Fellowship program is funded through the National Science Foundation Robert Noyce Teaching Scholarship Program. The application deadline is March 16, 2012.
